Christianity vs Religion
The Gospel of Christ vs Religion A christian is a follower of Christ. A religious person is someone who follows a certain doctrine or belief and practices those beliefs, and lives by its laws and customs. Furthermore, the christian chooses not to follow his or her own impulses and gratify his or her own inclinations but to follow, instead, the biddings of the Holy Spirit. The dedicated follower of Jesus will never do anything without seeking the advice and guidance of Holy Spirit. Neither is the Christian's faith based on theory. It is totally built on an experience with Jesus. Thereby bringing their every action and mind-set under the following of the Holy One. According to the bible - " Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.( James 1:27). As noble and important as going to church regularly and on time is, as well as doing good to others, turning the other cheek, and paying a faithful tithe and offering. Knowing Christ personally is even more crucial. According to the bible it is dependant on one's soul salvation. Having faith is not enough. Faith without works is dead. (James 2:17). In other words if you don't show me proof that you are who or what you say you are, then its of no avail. Am sure my readers will agree with me when I say people rather see a christian than hear one any day. Romans 6:14 informs us that it's only those who live a sinful life are condemn by the law. But verse 15 goes on to declare that does not mean that because we are under grace we should sin. 'God forbid'. So then we can conclude that both grace and law go hand in hand. Those who are christians live a religious life because of God's grace. The disciples of Christ want to serve and obey him wholeheartedly by heeding to his commandments. And not some but all. Not because they are forced to or live in fear of being punished by the Almighty. The only 'fear' they know is the is the one that means to reverence, honor and obey God out of a heart of love. Still 'If religion was a thing that money could buy, the rich would live and the poor would die'. |
